Out of all forty four Presidents that have served the nation and its needs, there is one President that has served as an outstanding leader. Rutherford B. Hayes was one of the most influential Republican presidents during the 1800s. He was the 19th president of the United States, and he served during one of the toughest but greatest terms during his election. He battled through rebuilding the nation and making peace between the Democrats and Republicans. Hayes experienced the Civil War which gave him the right to appoint issues for the Americans. Hayes looked at the war from many different aspects. First, he looks at the war with the mindset of if the war was to prohibit slavery it would then help preserve the Union. Hayes believed that the blacks deserved equality in American Society. Secondly, he decided that the war would also call for change and progress. Overall the war was something for the Americans to learn from. Hayes was fortunate to make things possible for the Americans. He was chosen to be president because he had the potential to conquer the hardships in which the Americans were facing. Hayes was a man with experience and great latitude. Some Americans look at Hayes in disgust because they seem to overlook what he has done for the nation. Hayes shared many values that other presidents did not. He should be honored for his generosity. As a Republican he did not feel a certain way against the Democrats. The Democrats feared he would belittle them but that was not his intentions. He did not fight for one side, instead he made peace between the two.
