To what extent is animal sacrifice ethical with the context of Islam and the outside world? I will be examining the grand Islamic celebration of Eid Al-Adha (a feast based on the sacrifice of animals),accompanying and incorporating the issue of animal sacrifice in Islam as a religion. I have found that this way of celebration ,which involves the brutality and sacrifice of animals, draws upon a contradiction between the virtues and beliefs of the religion. As a liberal Muslim, I am open to change and new ideas that could discard the traditional values of my religion; only if I believe they are not ideal or rational in this day and age. It is centered around the belief that there is only the one and Almighty God,Allah, and Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of God (Ahmed). There are roughly 1.9 billion followers of the religion , known as Muslims. The primary texts and scriptures of Islam include the Holy Qur’an, which has a literal meaning of “the recitation”, and ,as mentioned previously, the Sunnah. There are five basic acts that are considered mandatory by the believers of Islam,known as the Five Pillars of Islam. There is Shahada:The belief in the Faith, Salat:Daily Prayers to Allah ,Zakat: Performance of Charity to those less fortunate, Sawm:Fasting and Ramadan ,and Hajj:The Pilgrimage to Mecca. I will be focusing more on the pillars of Fasting and Ramadan,as it pertains to the the main topics. The Prophet said,
There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it.
