On the outside, Sage Foster looked like an average twenty-eight year old woman. Medium length, curled ash brown hair rested against her pale white skin. Her light brown almond shaped eyes were the best feature of her small feminine face. She married an average man, Mark Foster, who was a lawyer and provided for their family. Her suburban home, was the envy of all their neighbors, as it is furnished and decorated with perfection.
Not all was well on the inside, though. Sage had a history of mental illness, which continued to get worse as time went on. She was a neurotic, sick, woman, who hid it well. Her husband got on her nerves immensely. His normal banging and shuffling sounded ten times louder to Sage, and her husband made a great deal of noise. A symptom of her paranoia.

“Hmm, I’ve noticed he’s looked a bit different.” Julie’s husband said.
“Oh yes,” Julie chimed in. “I’ve noticed some dark circles under his eyes. Must be some late nights.” She shook her head in disappointment.
“Well, dig in!” Sage said, with a smile on her face.
They dug in, passing rolls and steamed corn around. They chatted on life and work, as usual. After a while, dessert was served, chocolate cake. They put on records and danced. And in the end, Sage received the usual praise.
“You did it again, Sage.” Julie beemed.
“Very delicious.” her neighbor, Robert exclaimed.
They all left and she closed the door, giggling slightly. The giggles soon turned to horrendous laughter. She cleaned up, laughing still. Her laughter stopped when she saw the framed picture from her wedding day. She held it in her hands, running a finger over her husband’s face. He had such a calm and gentle face. For a second, her heart raced as she realized what she’s just done. She erupted with laughter then.
