World War One helped make the United States the world power it is today by the Boom in Americas Economy, The Growth of the United States Military, and all of the new strategies and new technology. To start off, let’s talk about The Boom in Americas Economy. The United States traded with the Allies before the United States joined the war and during the war which gave the U.S. more jobs,money, and more joy. When the United States started to trade with the Allies, it also built support for them/ Allies. The information comes from the “Effects of World War 1” sheet that was given in class.
During my high school career I have made a consistent effort to stay involved in both my school and community. Through clubs such as Key Club, National Art Honor Society, and National Honor Society I’ve been able to help out locally and globally in an abundance of ways. In Key club and NHS I am able to volunteer in traditional ways, but National Arts Honors Society allows me to contribute to my community and school in a creative way that stimulates people 's minds through art. Due to these activities having a significant impact on my life my future career options are based around what I have learned from them.
Fortunately, I have been able to participate in STEM enrichment programs outside of my community such as NCSU’s Caldwell Fellows SATELLITE Camp, PARI Summer Space Camp Connect, and Appalachian Regional Commission-Oak Ridge Laboratory STEM Academy. These experiences were pivotal in the development of my passion for the preservation of the environment, ultimately leading me to pursue a career in a related field. Recognizing the need for more exposure to STEM within my community, I hope that with the knowledge, skill, and resources I gain from receiving the Goodnight Scholarship and education from NC State University, I can provide my community a gateway into gaining more knowledge about STEM and what it has to offer. As a junior, I am currently enrolled in Pre-AP Pre-Calculus for my math course. For my science course junior year, I am enrolled in Pre-AP Biology. I plan on taking AP Calculus and AP Biology my senior year of high school. I want to attend Summer Challenge because it gives me the opportunity to get a headstart on preparing for my future. In college, I hope to major in Human Development so that I can understand human behavior and interactions, as well as learn about how we are shaped by our environment. The Boston University Summer Challenge offers unique courses which fit perfectly into the path of study I would like to pursue in the future. The course which interests me the most at Summer Challenge is Abnormal Psychology.
I am grateful to all my teachers for teaching me valuable information about science, but I am desperate to know more. It will prepare me for my future interests and the knowledge will be extremely beneficial. During the service-learning opportunities, I am willing to do more than the 10-hour minimum to benefit the community as much as possible. Throughout my four years of high school, I have kept myself occupied by participating in three student organizations that has developed me into a helpful and prestigious individual. My participation in the Alexander High School UIL Academic team taught me the lesson of hard work pays off. I took the opportunity to join my high school's UIL current events and social studies team which allowed me to compete against others based on my knowledge of the topic. By competing, UIL has educated me that in order to succeed, you must be willing to make sacrifices and dedicate your time towards studying in order to earn a medal or a ribbon. Thankfully, I got to place in many invitational events.
The Morehead Honors Program opens many doors for the receivers. Several magnificent programs and internships are offered to students that are part of this wonderful program; these include an internship in Frankfort, an intensive summer research program for students interested in medicine or dentistry, a commitment to host a show on the campus television station for a year, and a year-long volunteering experience working with children in after-school programs. Honestly, the volunteering experience in after-school programs for children interests me enormously. Along with building onto my existing skills, I will develop new skills, grow as a person due to the experience, and face my fears and anxieties. I believe I would thoroughly enjoy that
My ultimate endeavor since attending community college has been my involvement in school, specifically with Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. As an engineering major I am limited to a diminutive amount of free time, due to the quantity and difficulty of my classes. However, this limitation and the fact that my ride to school is a two hour trip on public transportation, has not stopped me from participating in extracurricular activities. Applying my time management and responsibility skills that I acquired from taking several math base classes at the same time, I managed to become a member of clubs and attain leadership roles. I first became the Vice President of Service, for Phi Theta Kappa and organized service events on campus and outside of campus.
What do I have to gain from the Capital Semester Internship? That question can be answered by displaying what I can contribute as a participant in the Capital Semester Internship. As a senior and a Psychology and African American Studies major at Virginia Commonwealth University, a student worker, and an avid volunteer, I make a strong candidate for the Capital Semester Internship. My research interests which are a combination of psychology and social justice, my career goals that will utilize psychology to influence public policy, and my willingness to learn more about government on a local, state, and national level will help to enrich my experience in Virginia’s legislative branch of government this upcoming semester.
I hope to take part in research projects, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities that will enable me to apply my classroom knowledge in real-world settings. I believe that these experiences will equip me with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in my future career. I am also excited about the prospect of joining a supportive and engaged community of peers. The Honors College provides a platform to collaborate with other high-achieving students who share my passion for learning and making a positive impact in the world. I am eager to engage in meaningful discussions and debates with my fellow Honors College students and learn from their diverse perspectives and experiences.
I aspire to be in the National Honors Junior Society program. I wish to be accepted and it is an honor just to be invited to such a program. I have been looking forward to this program and being accepted shows me that I have achieved my goals to be the best student I can be. By participating as an SIP intern, I hope to gain experience in the scientific field and to further my passion in science. When I am a working adult, I would be most happy spending my days in bioengineering. I highly enjoy delving into biology- I love the classes, reading its applications, and researching what the career is like. Thinking narrowly, participating as an SIP intern gives me a chance to spend my summer well.
I am looking for more than just academics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During my four years at Northwood High School, I became involved in numerous academic and extracurricular activities. As a result, I have been recognized and honored for achievements both inside and outside of school. I realize that titles and academic achievements are limited, but some of the impact I have on my community and other people’s lives is what really matters. Therefore, I plan to continue my active involvement in extracurricular activities while I am a college student.
The heart of New York City is New York University. By joining the network of NYU, I will be able to study at an institution that has a long tradition of academic excellence among private universities in the United States. Additionally, I will be able to be part of an internationally recognized learning network with locations all across the globe. It would be a pleasure to study at a globally recognized university.
