I. Description of client
Danielle Castillo is a 16 year old female. She is a student at Niagara Falls High School; she is involved in the softball team, the color guard, and band. She is beginning to have problems at school and home. Her problems began last year when she had her first experience with another girl. Danielle desperately wanted to be with her but did not want to have to come out to her family, friends or peers. As if she did not already have it hard enough struggling with her own identity, her mom started acting very suspicious and her father soon found out that her mom was using drugs and cheating on him which led her father to wanting a divorce. As her father was pursuing the divorce Danielle needed someone to confide in so she came out to her mom, whom told her father, which to no surprise, was very displeased about this and has been discussing kicking her out. Danielle began having suicidal thoughts and feels like suicide may be her only way out. She has begun cutting herself to help cope with her situation, she feels like she may be the reason her mom began to use because she had gotten into a lot of

Danielle has agreed to begin going to a LGBT after school group to be able to be surrounded by teenagers who are experiencing the same feelings. The social work student would also like to see Danielle get involved in some family therapy with her parents, along with individual therapy for all of them so they can see what can be fixed and what they believe cannot be fixed. Danielle has agreed to sign a suicide contract which will entail that if at any point she is feeling suicidal she will have certain contacts that she can call, 24 hour hotlines, she can show up at the social work student’s office to speak with them, she may also call 911 for transportation to a hospital where she can receive proper
