Application Paper 1 The person who I have chosen to write my paper over is my fiancés grandmother. Her name is Juanita French but she goes by Neta. She is 58 years old. She lives in Coatesville, IN.

Juanita Whitt (Neta) was born August 4th, 1959 at her home in Stilesville, IN. Her mother, Barbara Whitt, carried her for the full forty-week term, plus three more weeks. She was delivered normally, but when her mother went into labor, the doctor did not arrive quickly enough. She was in labor with Neta for less than an hour. She was born in the late afternoon and was five pounds and two ounces. The only complication that happened during birth was that she came out not breathing and the doctor thought she was dead because the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck. It took several attempts to get her to breath. Neta’s mother was very healthy when she was pregnant with Neta but she did smoke. At 10 ½ months, Neta started walking and at a year old she was toilet training. Her mother always said the sooner they are toilet trained, the better.

At seven, her and her younger siblings finally saw how bad the abuse was towards their mother when it happened in front of them for the first time. It was very terrifying. She said, “I did not understand how someone who was supposed to be her protector could hurt my mother like that.” At this age though, he started to hurt them also. He beat Neta’s younger brother, Butch, the most. Within the household, they never talked about the sister that passed away and Neta did not understand why. Neta also did not understand why boys were paying more attention to her. Neta, her mother and her siblings were all still very intimidated by her biological father.
