The Bizz Buzz assignment topics were really relevant, not only to the course but for each of the students as they graduate college and enter into the job search. The first Bizz Buzz was on unemployment, I found it the most useful because it is a huge issue in the world right now and is something that we could be facing upon graduating. The article that I chose for this category was on how many college graduates have to find jobs unrelated to their major. This is due to unavailable jobs in their career choice and student debt needs to be paid, so students are taking whatever job they can get. This shows how difficult it can be after graduation to get a job.
This project taught me multiple life lessons. These lessons included concepts such as communication skills, detailed planning, leadership, and vital importance of keeping a commitment. My Eagle Scout Project has given me experiences, and vital practice with skills that most seventeen-year old’s do not receive until later in life. The project has helped me grow and mature as a person. Working through this project has provided me with experiences with managerial responsibilities that I can use later in my life.
When the Portfolio Assignment was posted at the beginning of the semester, I knew I had to get started right away. I began to read some of the requirements of the assignment and found it difficult to complete this section. It took a long time for me to decide on who I should interview. I thought maybe I could interview one of my co-workers who are currently students as well but are farther along in their degree, but quickly decided not to since I was offered a new job as a bookkeeper. I was thrilled to have finally found a job in my chosen career!
Throughout the senior project, I accomplished two big research papers, a trifold and brochure to represent my college and career choice, and many other forms of research about my chosen occupation. By completing this project, I have learned that senior project is no joke. This project is huge and requires a lot of time and effort. If you want a high quality project you have to work hard and use your time wisely in school and outside of school.
I learned how to formulate a restricted, unified, and precise thesis statement. I am now able to organize essay content into introduction, body and conclusion paragraphs. I also learned how to construct and organize unified, coherent, and well-developed paragraphs. I am able to apply grammar and usage rules correctly and develop clear, concise sentences. I learned about parallelism, run-on, comma splices and sentences.
This senior project will teach me to have good time management and self determination. In order for me to complete my senior project and get a good grade on it those two things are extremely important! I know that it will be a struggle to be able to do my senior project along with all the work form my other classes, but I know that i can do It and make a good grade! This is very important to me because this senior project will determine whether or not I become a Medical Assistant because i may not enjoy it or i may really like it! None of my parents went to college so going to college and getting a good job is also extremely important to me!
Through the experience of working as youth leader for freshman connection I have grown as a better leader. To help incoming freshman was incredible experience for me. I joined freshman connection to serve school and defiantly to get knowledge and team building skills out of it, so that it can help me make my college experience better. I think I have achieved all the goals that I wanted to through working as youth leader. Additionally, not only that but also to work on community service project on bullying has really allowed me to serve as teacher helper.
I have helped on many service projects with my youth group and through Boy Scouts. Tutoring and executing my Eagle Scout project were both jobs that put me into a leadership position. Lego Robotics trained me in team building skills and inspired me to learn more about computers. Building my first computer and planning my Eagle Scout project taught me the importance of preparation to create something exceptional that will last.
Artifact Description This artifact was created for and with a student to aid her in making connections between education and careers. I was to create a student portfolio to help a student with college admission, career interests, and scholarship applications. In putting together my portfolio, I could definitely see that I have made an incredible progress from the foundation of this class. Reflecting on my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, as well as things I have learned in my own writing process is a big accomplishment.
The Career fair mock interview session was an excellent learning experience for me. Going into the interview I was somewhat nervous at first, but truly enjoyed and appreciated the event overall. The staff was well prepared and gave the precipitants crucial feedback that would be of vital necessity in the long run. The key purpose of the Career fair mock interviews was to give the young students and professionals of Southern University tips and pointers that would make them appear more appealing to potential employers. I was able to grow professionally through the experience due to the various questions I was asked and the feedback I received as a result of my responses.

The Career Fair for the Liberal Arts & Business students was an interesting experience. I am glad that I went for the reason to get some experience before I go to the next one. I had absolutely no idea what to expect or do. The environment itself was not overwhelming but attempting to talk to the different business made me feel nervous and unprepared. Now that I have gone I understand that I need to have questions prepared, I feel I would do much better at it.
