The importance of relationships between father and son are presented in The Odyssey with the ancient Greek values of home and respect of elders. For instance, Odysseus and Telemachus’ love for eachother is shown through their long voyages to find one another which reunites them in the end. Without their strong father-son relationship, they may not have had the desire to search for one another which would have led to a significantly different plot and end result. In the end, Telemachus’ joy is greatly expressed when he discovers Odysseus which further proves their undeniable friendship and bond. Another example of a strong father and son relationship is presented by the love Poseidon and Polyphemus have towards each other.

Penelope faces lots of challenges raising her son, Telemachus, while she was a single mother. Raising a child without his father is tough due to the fact that sometimes, mom’s do not know how to give the child the best advice like how their father gives advice to their son.

Poseidon's was the be the god of the sea and horse and he is a supreme god of olympus with a lot of reasonability like when he is angry or the other god are angry he needs to punish them for disobeying the rules they have. In Tales from the Odyssey it stayed that Poseidon made wave that went over the ship because they made the gods made when they invaded Athena temple in Troy. Poseidon's role as a god is very important because he makes sure the people that travel the sea made the right choice by making them drown and die by a sea monster. Poseidon’s trident helps him control the sea and make dolfins obey his every command. The place where he got his trident was when he fought his father cronus and sense they won hades got the helmet of darkness, Zeus a lighting bolt and Poseidon a lighting bolt.
The Odyssey written by Homer speaks of one of the most iconic Heroes in storytelling to this day. This character, Odysseus, is known very well as being a remarkable leader. This is a very true, solid statement about Odysseus because of his ability to influence people, through trickery and solid courage. As all great leaders have their strengths, many have just as much or more weaknesses. Furthermore this is very true with Odysseus, especially since his weaknesses seem to change, and keep him unsure about many things.

Some examples of these are the works we have read in class such as the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Electra plays, and Aristophanes’ the Clouds. Although mother-daughter relationships are important throughout each of these works; father-son relationships are even more so. The father-son relationship is one of the most important aspects of these societies especially in the Odyssey written by Homer. The significance of all of the father-son relationships depicted in the Odyssey itself is for the purpose of exploiting its themes of family, xenia and tradition.

In Homer’s Poem, The Odyssey, Penelope is the exceptionally patient and clever spouse of the infamous hero, Odysseus, and the mother of Telemachus. One poignant factor of Penelope’s character is her patience and devotion which is displayed throughout the poem. With her husband absent for a great majority of her life for the later of twenty years and his location unknown, Penelope stays, patiently awaiting Odysseus’ return, all whilst preserving their estate and raising her son by herself. Throughout this time, she had many persistent suitors in pursuit of her, abusing her husband’s absence.

According to the Hebrew bible Genesis is one of the Torah (the law) books but according to Christian Old Testament Genesis is one of the Pentateuch . Genesis explains the origin of the world and how God is the creator of everything, the stories that followed the creation story guided the readers to the idea of Hebrew believed in one God from the beginning, and for that reason Genesis was the opening book of the Old Testament . Although telling stories was nearly the most important source of entertainment for the ancient societies, it was also for learning from others experiences, mistakes and gain knowledge about life and the surrounded world.

In Genesis 12, Abraham had a hard life and God had asked him to leave his home in return for land, decedents and a relationship with Him. Additionally, Abraham and his wife Sarah were too old and had no one to succeed the family, but he continued to press on in the name of God. When Abraham finally reached the promised land, his wife gave birth to Isaac as God promised. One day, Abraham’s life suddenly took a change as God said “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you” (Genesis 22:2 NIV).
“Foundation of Family” Family is the fundamental building block of all societies. It is all inclusive across generations and cultures. Based on the epic poem The Odyssey and current families today, we see that family is where we learn to love ourselves and each other, to bear one another’s burdens, to find meaning in our life and to give purpose to other’s lives, and to feel the value of being part of something greater than ourselves. Family is where we experience our biggest triumphs, deepest vulnerabilities, and where we have the greatest potential to do good.
