San Diego State provided an opportunity for me to engage in the college experience while also submerging myself with cultures from around the world. When I was invited to apply to SDSU I learned about the sisterhood of the SDSU Diamonds and had the opportunity to meet proud Delta Alumni who still sing with Aztec pride. As a first year college student I expect my educational experience to be engaging and welcoming. San Diego State has proven to be a place where I can be the beneficial contributor to my community and the world we share. I aspire to build life long friendships with my peers and professors to ensure that I make the connections and gain the experience required to tell the story of our people as an Anthropologist. Once I obtained ahold of that I wanted so badly for everyone to find the love in themselves and each other as I had. I participated in the EOP summer bridge program and it was the best experience for me because of the impact I left on my peers and the impact they left on my journey. I inspired so many to seek within themselves for answers they had already acquired and love they had never felt before. I also demonstrated in practice how to live a life of optimism and compassion for all because I want for my peers what I've acquired for myself. In doing so they shared their stories with me and I was able to genuinely hear the dragons tale from the dragon itself. I learned of family values and struggles that, although I had never experienced myself, I was able to resonate and express genuine empathy for such enticing stories. Summer bridge at San Diego State encouraged me to be the leader I had always had the potential to be, while allowing me to share my passion with others and engage with peers from different backgrounds who share the same struggles as me. Theses encounters also inspired me to seek involvement in clubs and organizations within and outside of my African American
