The interconnections exhibit at the Moma is truly breath taking. Upon entering the exhibit it can be a little overwhelming as there is so much going on. You have the giant room painted wall to wall ceiling to floor, along with miniature sculptures of visionary architecture. So many interesting pieces in the exhibit, but a couple of paintings really caught my eye one by Sanile Goje and another by Laurie Simmons. Laurie Simmons painting is titled the “Walking House” and Sandile Goje painting is titled “ The Meeting Of Two Cultures.” I was drawn to these two paintings mainly because of my love for history and social behavior. Looking a little closer you can see one home resembles more of a tent and the other is a brick house. I quickly saw the connection between cultures exhibited in the drawing. Although the homes look different the background is completely the same. I feel the painters point was that all cultures can coincide together in harmony. You can even see different levels of class between the houses as one being a more wealthy home than the other but at the same time living in the same place together. I really enjoyed the way the meeting of these cultures were illustrated with a hand shaking gesture. Made me think of how many cultures we have in New York City and how diverse we are and for the most part accept it as part of
