Sandra is a breast cancer survivor, and won the first annual Altman Award for inspiring and educating the causes of cancer. She has also written an article about cancer that was later made into a documentary. Following those previous accomplishments, Sandra received the Hero Award by the Breast Cancer Fund in 2006.
