Caudillos are a major factor in how latin americas government was established and brought to what it is now. Caudillos are mainly the ranchers that lived on the plains and made a living from the land. Buenos Aires was a very civilized society compared to internal Argentine area. My opinion is that this vast area of plains wouldn 't have been civilized if it wasn 't for these gaucho leaders causing problems and the impact of Buenos Aries upon the lacking internal Argentine area. Argentinas vast area of ranches and farming potential could have been utilized to attribute to further success of Buenos Aries I feel like. This area was talked about as being terrible by Sarmiento that was ruled by gauchos and strictly illegal income traveled through this area. Sarmiento exaggerated this very much and it shows since these gauchos were so spread out it was hard to determine the amount of people actually present within this area contributing to illegal …show more content…

Argentina was very unique during this period of time, they had a formal and informal power conflict that proceeded after the formal government was established. After this establishment what made them different was their way of further increasing the military. This being said, what Argentina did was not only build political power but also expanded their military power along with it. Sarmiento I feel viewed these caudillos as an end of proper civilization in Argentina. These caudillos and Sarmiento wanted completely different government types, while Sarmiento wanted the western European ways to be established this isn 't what the caudillos wanted. These caudillos wanted the traditional way of life to stay as it was while Sarmiento was very optimistic and wanted a new establishment. My opinion is that the caudillos felt the need to preserve their way of life and wouldn 't stop until it was kept that way, although this wasn 't the best route to choose it didn 't matter since they had the backing of the people behind
