They also believe in karma, a law of cause and effect by which an individual creates their own destiny by their actions. In every culture, each creator is described differently. In Mayan culture, two gods, the Maker and the Feathered Spirit, created the world. They “glittered with brilliant green and blue feathers” while the rest of the world remained dark. They were also all- powerful “whatever they thought came into being” meaning they have complete control over their world. The Inuit god was known as the Raven, and he “had the powers of both man and bird” and “made the world and the water with the beats of his wings”.
The spiritual aspect of Hinduism shows the overbearing power of the “Brahman”. The Brahman also known as the World Soul comes from the sacred text of the Bhagavad Gita given to Lord Krishna. The Brahman is ones deepest self, the identity that remains beneath one’s changing self (Griffen). In Hinduism, this God is the basis of all creation, and all power worshipped in the religion. The Brahman lies at the root of all who show devotion to other gods.
In the beginning, there was nothing but light in the galaxy. Then, the light transformed into a monkey shape in the air and become the Monkey God, Shiv. Throughout the days, Shiv began to feel lonely, so he created other gods by harvesting all of the energy he had from the light. From the light Shiv created Zeus the Eagle, Phil the Kangaroo, Mackenzie the Koala, and Fenrir the Snake. Shiv used too much of his energy and became weak.
The Kushanas also used religion for similar practical means, and also claimed divine origin of their kings; “Ashoka called himself ‘dear to the gods’, but the Kushan kings called themselves sons of god.” Both of these Central Asian groups used military conquest to gain new territories in India, but after the conquest was complete, there was the problem of having to govern the conquered peoples. The Shakas and the Kushanas needed the support of the new peoples they began to rule; to achieve this, they began patronizing local religions in order to bond with their new Indian and Iranian subjects. According to Trautmann, “the coinage of the Kushanas shows that they patronized rival Indian cults, including that of the Hindu god Shiva and the Buddha, but because their territory fell in both India and Iran, numerous Iranian deities (not to mention Mesopotamian and Roman) also appear.” Sharma adds to this idea by writing “several Kushan rulers were worshippers of Vishnu, as was certainly the case with the Kushan ruler Vasudeva, whose very name is a synonym for Krishna, an incarnation of Vishnu.”

Diaspora “One believes things because one has been conditioned to believe them”. We often tend to believe in things that we are taught. Our first teachers are our parents. However, there has come times were we all have come to think how everything they have taught us might not necessarily be right for us. This quote is also reflected in the autobiography, “Daughters of Shame”, written by Jasvinder Sanghera.
