In the texts “Spirit Bear” and “Brother Bear” the main characters are guided by others. In “Spirit Bear”, written by Ben Mikaelsen the main point of the story is using the form of rehabilitation and reintegration in the main character Cole’s life. Cole has found himself in a lot of personal troubles. With the help of others he was guided to find himself, but it came along with many challenges. In the film “Brother Bear” the main character Kenai is faced with a large obstacle in his life. Being guided by his elder and his oldest brother he overcame his obstacle and realized the perspective of others. Cole grew up with his Dad beating him up when Cole would do nothing wrong. Cole never understood why his Dad was beating him up until Cole’s Mom shared with him that his dad, too, had been beaten as a child. Once Cole found out the reasoning for his abuse, he had a better understanding of his father. Kenai’s world view changed from the relationship he had with Koda. In “Brother Bear” when Kenai builds a brotherly relationship with Koda, Koda shares that he sees the hunters as the monsters. Which makes Kenai change his perspective on the bears being the monsters. Sitka transcended the material world and became a living spirit in the form of his totem, an eagle. After Sitka’s death, Kenai had a lot of anger and went on a personal quest to hunt down the bear. Kenai finally got the bear, not knowing he just killed a little cub's mother. It was not until Kenai got transformed into a bear from his brother Sitka how saw Kenai with angry action towards killing the bear. This taught Kenai a lesson that doing things with such anger does not do any good for you. On Kenai’s journey where he was trying to find where the lights touched the earth he met up with a little cub Koda. Getting to know Koda better he realized that Kenai was the one who hunted down his mother. Kenai was now looking out for Koda the journey too. Finally reaching their destination where the lights touch the earth, Sitka turned Kenai back into a human, then turned Kenai back into a bear. This way he could be caring for Koda now and would not leave him behind in life's
