Characters controversial topic: Animal Experimentation There is no doubt that people are for and against Animal Experimentation, but have you ever stopped and thought what some of your favorite characters would think about the topic? Today we will be rhetorically analyzing some of my favorite animated Disney character and deciding what stance they would take based on clues from their movies. Animal Experimentation typically include tests where animals are exploited in one way or another for the personal gain of humans. This is something that doesn't come as a surprise to many of us, in fact many animated characters are shown going through the same treatment. This kind of treatment is even prevalent in children's films. The Genie …show more content…

In his culture when you are of age you get a totem that spiritually bonds you with a higher spirit. In the beginning of the movie he is told to tie up the basket of fish to a tree so that the bears won't get to it, but because the totem ritual was starting, and he didn't want to be late he tied it poorly. Before he had got to far the basket fell, and he just ignored it and went to the ceremony. When he gets back from the ceremony the basket and all the food had been ripped apart by a bear. Throughout the movie he tried to get vengeance on the bear for all the damage it had caused including killing his older brother. Kenai even said, "most bears will look for any excuse to attack the human" (Brother Bear: 2003). Kenai fully believed this, he thought of bears as blood hungry monsters, but the young cub Koda reminded him that it's not like that Koda said, "But, Kenai, he attacked us" (Brother Bear: 2003). Seeing how the characters suffered makes me think that they would not wish that kind of treatment on others. I am confident enough with my opinion to think that the Genie from Aladdin would not want anyone, or thing to be exploited the way he was. The Genie was truly miserable and remained liked that until he was freed, however many animals typically aren't as lucky and end up dying in the process. Stitch was disregarded as an induvial and even as an animal was seen as an abomination. His own creator didn't care about him and tried killing him many times. Finally, Kenai from the Brother Bear showed us how greedy, and self-centered humans could be. One of the main points that people who are in favor of animal testing bring up are that the lives of animals are less significant than those of humans so testing on them and saving our lives makes it okay. I fully believe that in the beginning of the movie Kenai would be in favor of Animal experimentation, however after being transformed into an animal it showed him the validity of all lives including animals. After reviewing the circumstances, it is safe to conclude that none of the characters mentioned above would be in favor of Animal Experimentation based on what they have
