I decided to enroll in this course after finding it through the mypack portal and adding it to my schedule since it sounded interesting. I then learned more about it through the fall VetPac seminars and decided to enroll in it the following semester. This course was also praised and recommended by fellow students in animal science since it helped them prepare for careers as veterinarians. I was also interested in learning more about the application process for veterinary school because I knew so little about it compared to those who are majoring in it. Another crucial element was the chance to enroll in a course that would help me follow a rough plan for how to apply to veterinary school. A few of these are work in academia, travel, big animal medicine, laboratory animal medicine, and exotic animal medicine. Veterinary care for large animals in particular as it is in high demand and is portable. The general public, farmers, animals, and rural regions may all suffer negative consequences from this deficit. Despite the fact that their number has remained constant for more than 20 years, there aren't enough large animal veterinarians to replace those who leave the profession or retire. I was inspired to pursue it because only about 5% of veterinarians in the US are experts in food animals. The idea that everyone starts out in a small animal practice is, in my opinion, a common misconception. I also discovered that I need to work on pushing myself to try new things. One of my weaknesses, I'd say, is pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. I will need to keep working on my shyness and my reluctance to put myself out there and try something new. However, I believe that my work as a kennel technician has given me knowledge and abilities that I can use with many different species. Thus I think that being a kennel technician and soon-to-be veterinary assistant is a strength that helps in other areas of my life. I also learned the importance of maintaining a positive attitude when working with others in the field. As this was something I could improve upon as I sometimes don't look enthusiastic. I’m constantly learning how some of the things in this class are shaping my personality, or causing me to see things differently than if I hadn’t taken it. For example, this class has opened my eyes to a lot of these things or experiences that play
