Using Satire to Convict Social Media Social media has inspired a stronger set of issues in the lives of the current youth, according to Shannon Purtle in “Why Social Media Should Be Left Alone”, specifically issues dealing with authenticity. In a time when social media is on the rise, Purtle addresses the lacking of real connections and endangerments surrounding magnified typical teenage issues caused by those programs within the lives of young Americans. As a teenager, or young adult, there is an immense amount of exposure to assimilation from one self-conscious teen to the next unsure teen. Anyone could say whatever they have in their mind on social medias. Social media self-expression is better, because one gets to release his or her stress online rather than having their thoughts in a journal where no one would know what is going in their mind when they are contemplating on life. In our society, we can see all of these matters, some more than others but they are all present. With any technology people can overly use it and abuse it. People have been abusing technology for years, some people might call it progress but I call it abuse, especially when it ends up hurting innocent people for instance; any technology that is used in wars. Technology is a privilege, not a right but, some people don't seem to understand that and do monstrous things for example; stealing credit card information, hacking into others computers, making bombs and so on and so forth.

Technology. That is all that people seem to rely on these days. Everyone has their phone out and everything has to be typed and turned in online. At the end of 1999, people were worried about losing everything because everything on computers was stored based on the last two digits of that year. People would not have worried as much if technology hadn’t run their lives.
