Savagery and Civilization: 2 words that are the complete opposite. Savagery being an adjective of fierce and cruel, civilization meaning the stage of human social development and organization, that in a way is the culture and the way of life. The book with a allegory to WWII, Lord of The Flies presents the ideas on civilization vs. savagery. This book about the british schoolboys up against nature after the unsuccessful plane flight, makes for a tragic story. This book by William Golding, carries closely to the actually events around WWII, teaches Goldings views on society right after the war, as well as a moral we can learn from this tragedy. 1954, was the year the classic novel, Lord of the Flies, was published (Lord of the flies and WW2). Gaining the people's control, Hitler's “Bands of Nazis attacked Jewish homes and businesses, looting, beating, and killing people” (Lord of the Flies and WW2). Jack and his team did a very similar thing. “A thing was crawling out of the forest. It came darkly, uncertainly. The shrill screaming that rose before the beast was like a pain.
