Saving Private Ryan Historical- Stevens Spielberg film Saving Private Ryan takes place during World War II in the continent of Europe. July 4, 1944 can also be addressed as D-Day where the Allied Powers of World War II storm the beaches of Normandy, France to surprise the German soldiers. The Nazis were defeated on the Western side of France which to many looked like the turning point of the war. This surprised Hitler because at the time he was expecting the Allied Power to attack from the north but instead they attacked from the West. All the German soldiers were covering the north ready for any attack to come. Hitler at the time was fighting the Soviet Union from the East which left the West completely open and the Allied Powers took advantage of it. Saving Private Ryan and Bataan can give the audience a real-life experience of what combat was like back in the 1940’s. Saving Private Ryan mainly enhances my knowledge on the way they fought during the war. From actual fighting with guns, knives, to throwing their own helmets. The strategical way fought, movements, formations used clears up every question I once had about war back in the 1940s. Also, this movie and articles I read after doing research shows me more of what was used during the war for example; airplanes, guns, tanks and uniforms. This film also shows the medical training and how they handled wounds back then that is much different from today. One thing I would have like to see in films is actual combat battle grounds where the events took place. For example, in Saving Private Ryan the open scene wasn’t shot at Omaha Beach but in a location very similar to it. In my opinion I would have loved if it had taken place in the actual location along with other scenes in the
