In today's society, a common debate, especially amongst high school students, is whether students should be allowed to leave the cafeteria and school campus for lunch. At high school age, students are usually driving and have a job, allowing money to be provided to them. This gives the urge for teenagers to go and get a nice lunch from somewhere close by for lunch rather than being stuck in the cafeteria buying lunch, or eating a packed lunch that has been sitting in their backpack all day. Here are just a few more convincing reasons as to why students should be able to head out of school grounds for their meal. The food served at school is not the most appealing cuisine to most adolescents. According to studies, 9/10 students would actually prefer to eat something other than the schoolhouse lunch(Bershia, 1). At most schools as well, the available meals have a tendency to not satisfy a growing teenager's body. Students must have at least a C to be able to leave the school campus. If the child does not have decent grades than they will not be permitted to walk off campus to get a meal and must stay on the school grounds for the whole lunch time. The only way for students to leave as well is to show their school I.D. card to a teacher or security guard working during lunch hours, if they do not have their I.D. present on them they will not have permission to exit school. School lunches are approximately 35 minutes, which gives enough time to go to a nearby restaurant and arrive back at school in time for the next session of classes. Although on short days the time for lunch is shortened, there can be a rule placed stating that students cannot leave on the shortened days, therefore there would be no worry for a rush of time on these days to accomplish going to get a quick meal and return in
