“Camp” “Scouts Honor” by Avi is an adventure book about 3 boys that struggle with being tough. In the beginning we meet 3 boys named Horse, Max and the narrator. Soon they go on an adventure saying that they're going on a trip with an adult. In the end Max wanted to quit but he didn’t wanna look like a wimp. This story shows that these 3 boys struggle with being tough. One boy who struggles with being tough is Horse. What's happening in the story is that Horse is acting tough but he's not. In paragraph 58/61 the text says When Horse realized he forgot his can opener Max say “that in the old day people used their teeth” horse replied saying “you saying my teeth aren’t strong”… “You saying I don’t know history?”. In paragraph 50/51 the text says The boys asked Max if he had been crying “Naw” he said “there was the water dripping from the tunnel roof but you said don’t move right?” “Well I was just being obedient.” This shows that this is important because it’s showing that he’s acting tough but he’s not. Finally the narrator struggles with being tough. What’s happening in the story is that the narrator is acting tough but he’s not. In paragraph 78 the text says “ I’m going he said trying to look brave I started on my own”…”Then a ray of hope struck me maybe the other guys chicken out I could quit because of them.” This is important because it shows how he acts tough but he knows he’s not.
