Heavily influenced by his arrangement within society, are not only John’s decisions as well as behavior, but lifestyle; which radically change throughout the book.
When war erupted in 1914, it caused a patriotic fervor in English Canada. Volunteers clustered to recruiting stations and everyone got into the war effort at home, determined to contribute to the British Empire 's battle in Europe. In stark contrast, French Canada felt removed from Britain 's dilemma.

Alluring the Audience as a Result of Appearance, Ardor and Attitude Everyone loves a good underdog story. Whether it’s David, the tortoise, Seabiscuit or anyone else who is able to beat the odds, the longshot always becomes a hero. Seabiscuit is considered one of America’s favorite underdogs as he goes from being “a duck waddl[ing],” rejected racehorse, to “draw[ing] more newspaper coverage in 1938 than, . . any other newsmaker,” captivating the world with his story (Hillenbrand 34, 285). In the non-fiction story Seabiscuit, by Laura Hillenbrand, Seabiscuit’s physical appearance, passion, and personality set him apart from other racehorses, causing readers to fall in love with his story.
Like when he covered up Polly’s death as a car crash, however, he would get caught up in his lie by telling people different stories (pg 83). Wilson had been caught up in his lies right up until the very end; for instance, when he was charged with murder, he had the clever idea to plead insanity as his defense rather than admitting he was guilty. “His act was indefensible, and the only remote possibility of mercy might come through a plea of insanity.” (pg 188). In the end, Wilson could not lie his way out of his situation, April 23, 1920, is the registered death of John L.
On July 28th,1914 the First World War and ended on November 11, 1918, what we know now as Remembrance Day. Numerous people died because of countless countries fighting over land. The Battle of Vimy was one of the most important battles that Canada won in four days. Before 1914 Canada did not appear as a proper country, although it got its independence thanks to John A. MacDonald. Britain kept Canada under its feet although we were an independent nation.
This War lasted a whopping 2 years and 8 months from june 1812- February 1815. Some peace negotiations started in 1814. This War was fought in many places like the U.S., Canada, and the high seas. The British, the Canadians, the Americans, and the Native Americans all took part in this war while everybody with the exception of America was under the British control. This war was part of a larger, Global conflict.
Canada changed greatly during the war, people changed, the economy changed and Canada gained independence outside of Britain. With these changes, it couldn't have happened without impacts from the war on Canada’s Homefront. Men were forced to become soldiers and the ones who weren't, were working to produce the supplies needed. Although not everyone agreed upon this, many believed helping another nation on the other side of the world wasn't the right thing to do. Canada became one of the highest supplying nations to the war effort, boosting its economy higher than ever before.

America began attacks in Canada and British Colonies, but would get nowhere with the pompous and overly-optimistic attitude that they had acquired. The U.S would face bad loss after bad loss that would result in them being pushed back over the canadian border.

Being a British colony at the time, Canada was dragged into the war that did not impact the country in any way, yet thousands of Canadians volunteered to devote their lives for their nation. The first World War had the greatest impact on Canadian history during the 20th century, as this event helped Canada gain more independence from Britain, it helped introduce women in the workforce, and also introduced non-white Canadians in the army. For the longest time, Canada had been under British control, however, this changed a bit after World War 1 took place.
Character traits help shape a person into what they are, there are ways to change them and become a better person. In the short story Charles, written by Shirley Jackson, a boy named Charles possessed many different negative character traits in which some include being, obnoxious, dangerous, and disrespectful. Charles displayed immature and unnecessary trouble for all the students and teachers. Being obnoxious means extremely unpleasant and Charles was just that in this short story. Charles possesses the trait obnoxious because all the children in the class were trying to listen to the story while the teacher would be unable to read due to the noise.
