What is the responsibility of the President of the United States? The Constitutions outlines the requirements and responsibilities of the President of the United States in Article II of the Constitution. The first thing that Article II defines in Section I is the requirements an individual must meet in order to serve as the President of the United States such as: how long the President and Vice President can hold the position (two four-year terms), the age requirement of anyone running for president is thirty-five years old, the individual must be a natural citizen of the United States and must have resided within the United States for at least fourteen years.
