The Middle Ages is a period of time which went from 1066 – 1485, it was a time when many famous historical events occurred. Archaeology has allowed a window into the lives of these people , and it has shown that Religion had a large part in the lives of the people in medieval Europe, and thus the art produced. However, other types of art existed, used as an expression rather than for religious purpose. Secular art and Marginal art co-existed but was rare, due to the power the church had. Combining these arts has helped show how the people of this age lived.
