In the earlier times the Israelites lived in Egypt and were explained to be a fruitful and multiplied people. Under the law of Egypt’s king, the Israelites had permission to live in Egypt and work the land. However, the King felt as if the Isralites were a threat to his reign because there were so many of them, so he dicided to deal with them “shrewdly” (Exod. 1:10). Therefore Pharaoh assigned them degrading work in harmful envirnments and began to control their population growth. The Egyptian masters worked the Israelites ruthlessly (exod. 1:13,14) and made them slaves.
Corporate greedy and corrupt politicians were specific problems and injustices that were present in American life during the late 1800s and early 1900s however these were addressed during the progressive era with laws and regulations. Throughout the gilded era corrupt politicians and corporate greedy allowed the upper class and businessmen to take advantage of the working class. This means that a majority of the population were hurt during the gilded age whereas a small percentage benefitted. As seen in document 1, living conditions were crowded, dirty, and unsafe.

After the reign of Napoleon, Europe was in catastrophe. However, through the hard work of the Congress of Vienna the issue was resolved. The Congress ushered a period of peace, and by doing this they had to restore the Old Order. This act restablished all the monarchs that Napoleon had suspended from power. By doing so political conflicts in Europe would come to an end.
The Enlightenment was also in a certain manner criticized this time by a number of traditionalist thinkers who blamed it for weakening traditions and religion without replacing anything in their place other than a misguided confidence in reason. These conservative thinkers saw that the Enlightenment was mainly a conflict versus the inherited religion, which is a losing situation or battle since that religion is spiritual and not founded on materialistic or rational grounds. In chapter 2 of the book Not Like Us, Pells discusses the influence of American journalism on Europe after the Second World War. “By the 1950s, the postwar generation of West German journalists not only endorsed the policies of the Atlantic Alliance, but did so in the pages of newspapers and magazines that looked exactly like their American prototypes (the most celebrated imitation being Der Spiegel, which faithfully copied the format and layout of Time). At least in this area, the Federal Republic had become thoroughly “Americanized” (Pells 51). This is good example of how the Americanization worked in all kinds of different sectors. The Europeans saw the popularity of newspapers and magazines in the United States and completely let go of the way they used to write their newspapers.
