It is well known, that for year’s physicians have prescribed natural and chemical medications to treat many psychological disabilities. Since the 1950’s, depression, a psychological ailment, that has been studied many times over and continues to be debated and studied. Through the use of medications as well as natural and psychological therapies the condition of depression is treated in numerous ways. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) is a form of drugs developed by medical and pharmaceutical companies; the goal of these antidepressant drugs is to target specific brain functions without affecting other cognitive skills and to reduce unwanted effects. The use of SSRIs to treat mental disorders is inhumane and with questionable research to uphold the reasons for this prescribed medical treatment. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) are widely used throughout the medical field to treat a wide range of mental disabilities and tested on animals and then prescribed to patients without any further findings or prescribed to patients that are already taking multiple psychological medications. There are many variations to treat this disorder: Extracts of Hypericum perforatum L. Light therapy is another way a physician and psychiatrists can treat every-day and winter depression symptoms. Then there is a general belief that physical activity and exercise have positive effects on mood and anxiety and a great number of studies describe physical activities are associated with healthy mental well-being, and curve stress and anxiety. So In part, some medical journal analysis has found that neither Prozac nor Plaxil are better than a placebo for any measure of depression. Furthermore, the drugs did notably increase harm, like suicidal thoughts and behavioral problems in the Prozac group and heart problems in the Plaxil group. Remember, people in general think that it is a lot easier to quickly pop a pill or have a doctor prescribe one than it is to explore the reasons for a person’s distress.
During the past decade, evidence from research on mood disorders has demonstrated that there is a need for proper psychological treatment.
