Obsessive would describe some people in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. Those people show how when there is lack of self-control, problems may arise. Helena, throughout the entire story, had always been very obsessive over Demetrius. Helena used to be Demetrius’s fiance but he left her to go after Hermia. She couldn’t accept the fact that he didn’t like her, and she would take any attention from him, even if that means being treated like a dog. Helena even asked him, “Used me but as your spaniel-spurn me, strike me, neglect me, lose me, only give me leave, unworthy as I am, to follow you” (Shakespeare 2. 1. 202-207). The fairy king thought he should intervene and decided to put love potion into Demetrius’s eyes and it got put in Lysander’s eyes by mistake.
