Self-driving cars would cause the decline of the economy and increase unemployment
Self-driving cars are a topic of great controversy, and have created cause for debate in whether they can truly be fully integrated into modern society. There are many problems we can examine that we could expect to arise with the introduction of self-driving cars. In 2015, there were 242,200 licensed taxis and private hire vehicles operating in England, and there has been an overall 31.2% increase in licensed vehicles since 2005 to 2015 (Gov.uk, 2017). As driverless technology advanced and premiums gradually got lower, would auto-mobile insurance be rendered useless? The UK insurance industry is the largest in Europe and the third largest in world, in which motor insurance plays a huge part. Now that electric cars are becoming a huge thing and are available to buy globally, driverless cars will almost certainly adopt this new technology.
