Self-evaluation of Class Presentation The controversial speech that I presented to the class discussed the benefits of a self-driving car. The self-driving car has been around for some time in this society. I found three sources that supported my position when I started to work on my speech. The three sources that I found were from the Franklin Institute, the Research Journal about Engineering and Mechanics, and the New York Time Magazine. The authors wrote about the benefits of self-driving cars for all people. For many who could not or should not drive a car, the self-driving car would help them to go around the city. When I started doing research about my topic, I found that what got my attention were the statistics from the Highways Traffic Administration. So, I thought that if this caught my attention at first, it would get others people’s attention as well. When I gave the speech, I used the statistics in my first sentence. After I gave them, I realized there was silence in the room. I think this was a good way of getting their attention. For the conclusion of my speech, I used one of the quotes that I had found, because the quote could make people think about the meaning. Other body language that I used during my speech was to have a “confused” facial expression a few times throughout the speech. My articulation during my speech was not perfect. There were some mumble words that I, myself, couldn’t understand clearly, and I do not know if my classmates understood them. When I realized that I mumbled too much, I slowed down my speech. My strength in giving my speech was that I changed my voice depending on what I wanted the audience to understand completely and what I wanted them to get out of my speech.
