Which means there would be a legislative branch, executive branch, and judiciary branch within the federal government. Document B claims “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether one or few...may be justly pronounced the very definition of tyranny… Liberty requires that the three great departments of power should be separate and distinct.” Having separate and distinct branches within the government limits the power accumulated so that it doesn’t become overpowered. Each branch is made up of different powers and duties.
Mina Farooqi The era following the close of the Civil War saw a shift in government attitudes away from laissez faire; the government no longer practiced non-interference in the direction of economic affairs, rather initiated policies that shaped the economy. The government initiated the building of private companies including railroad networks, while providing essential loans, subsidies and grants of public land, thus transforming US capitalism. The entire industrial US was the product of a massive public-private partnership in which the government played critical roles. Federal power allowed for the launch of the transcontinental rail project and communication lines, which opened up the vast Western frontier for farming, trade, tourism and

H.L. Menken once said, “The American people, North and South, went into the Civil War as citizens of their respective states, they came out as subjects... what they thus lost they have never got back.” The Civil War was a game changer for the United States. There were many problems leading up to this and the Civil War was bound to happen. Texans fought in the Civil War to protect States Rights, to keep slavery, and for the love of Texas.
During the 19th century American had it southern states secede thus causing a civil war between americans and there were 2 sides the Confederates from the south and the Union from the North the war was sparked by the elections of the 16th century. After the Union kind of won the battle of Antietam Lincoln decides to make The Emancipation Proclamation Which freed all the black slaves in the North. Once the Emancipation Proclamation was accepted Lincoln decided to allow African Americans to join the Union Army. This decision ultimately helped the Union in winning the Civil War. With the formation of the Constitution came the formation of the three branches of the U.S. government: the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. Each branch had its own duties and responsibilities independent of the others and also checked the powers of the other two to make sure they did not abuse
I believe in the 19th century that the American history was vindictive. Back then they denied the rights to black folk and they also attempt to use education to destroy the Native American culture. Also, in the 19th century, a major event in American history was the quest for democracy and equality. They were lynching and beating African American during Reconstruction and segregation period in the south. By reading this I understand how we have it easy than back then.
The two out four questions that I choose are to 1.) Discuss the causes of the civil war. Cite as many facts as possible to back up your analysis. And answer 2.) If the enduring vision of America is embodied in the Declaration of Independence's statements about equality and universal rights to justice, liberty, and self-fulfillment, how much progress toward those ideals had blacks and women made by 1877?
One significant influence was the concept of constitutional limitations on executive power. The experience of English monarchs abusing their authority reinforced the need for a system of checks and balances. Consequently, the US Constitution established three separate branches of government—the executive, legislative, and judicial—creating a system of checks and balances to prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful. The principle of representative democracy, as seen in the English Parliament, also shaped the formation of the US Constitution.
African Americans played a major role in the causes and effects of the Civil War. Between 1861 and 1870, African American slaves went from being the reason why the war started to changing the nation to allow more rights for blacks. Before the war, African Americans were treated horribly whether they were free or enslaved. There were many occurrences that diminished the rights of blacks. Due to the fact that African American slaves were running away from their owners to the North, the Fugitive Slave Act was established in the Compromise of 1850.
US History Essay Quiz 11.3 October 14, 2014 During the first quarter of US History, I could learn a lot about the history of The United States of America, since the time when it started just with colonies, lead to wars which ended up with revolutions, and a series of events that are important to history. In the first spot, I would like to remark how important it is to know about history, because it’s clearly the reasoning of why events happened, what their causes were, and was was it all about. In each of the events, there were important leaders who took initiatives of change, in a point where they realized it was necessary. Even though in this essay we are supposed to talk about certain topics we learned about, I would also like to mention something that in my personal opinion, was the most important thing I learned during this quarter: why it’s important to understand our own history, and even being a Colombian, I consider American history being part of my history as well, because even now, when time has passed, i can admire and take lots of things on how this affects us, and the entire humanity.
The American civil war led to the reunion of the South and the North. But, its consequences led the Republicans to take the lead of reconstructing what the war had destroyed especially in the South because it contained larger numbers of newly freed slaves. Just after the civil war, America entered into what was called as the reconstruction era. Reconstruction refers to when “the federal government established the terms on which rebellious Southern states would be integrated back into the Union” (Watts 246). As a further matter, it also meant “the process of helping the 4 million freed slaves after the civil war [to] make the transition to freedom” (DeFord and Schwarz 96).
Reconstruction era, which was followed by post-civil war, was meant to unite the states back together, reconstruct properties, and most importantly, abolish slavery in the South. Although the factors such as amendments legally freed former slaves, yet WRITE THESIS After the end of civil war in 1865, Reconstruction era, which was controlled by President Abraham Lincoln, appeared to quickly coalesce the Northern and Southern states. reconstruction amendments, which were approved between 1865 and 1870, played a huge role on giving legal rights to blacks and former slaves. 13th amendment constitutionally abolished slavery in 1865 and followed up by that, 14th and 15th amendment admitted equal citizenship, protection, and rights of suffrage despite the one’s race or skin color.
