“More weight,” stated by Giles Corey from, “The Crucible,” before he was pressed to death for witchcraft. Giles Corey was one of the oldest people to be killed during the Salem Witch Trials. The Salem Witch Trials was a series of events that took place in 1692, where innocent people were hung for apparently being witches. The people in the trials were tried in court and the girls who accused them would act like the person or people were sending spirits towards them to make the judges believe them. Giles Corey reminds me of myself by his sarcasm during conversations, always acting ornery, and the comical remarks he makes.
A name, in theory, is a word or phrase that helps you recall a person or thing. In practice, a name also helps one recall the person’s or thing’s reputation. In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, the characters’ decisions emphasize this quality. Not only does the name include the reputation and legacy of the people they identify, the characters’ choices and behaviors in The Crucible are motivated by the preservation of their dignity and the reputation associated with their names. By assessing the choices made, the inner personality traits of each character can be seen.

Times can be full of hysteria and strife, and seldom, other times. People can be unjust and ridiculing, or optimistic and caring. Many characters portrayed the same characteristics: gullible and stubborn or friendly and hardworking. Giles, for example, is an immensely enthusiastic, sarcastic, friendly, hardworking, brave, fun-loving character that you could not begin to loathe like some of the other characters resembling Abigail. He did not want to regard anything in relation to the witchcraft scheme; especially anything that correlates it to his wife, Martha, but some situations cannot be avoided.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, a novel written by Mark Twain, often depicts armor as protection and a sign of nobility in King Arthur’s sixth-century Europe. The armor used for protection often times does not work during the book and many die while wearing it. Hank Morgan tries wearing armor, and decides never to wear it again because of the tremendous uncomfort and the way the armor makes him feel trapped, both mentally and physically. Despite showing tremendous protection and fortitude, armor often times traps an individual’s humanity and lacks proper defense.
Questioning life through the quote “for who would bear the whips and scorns of time,” Hamlet is confused and considers death (3.1.71). This can be seen when Branagh pulls out a knife and points it at his reflection, considering death. This adds to the text’s meaning by physically showing what is going on in Hamlet’s mind. Although Branagh is older than Hamlet, his age resembles wisdom. He is aware of the unknown.

Mason McCabe Period 1 Mango Street Essay Thingy On the topic of ‘gender’ in relation to House on Mango Street (by Sandra Cisneros) is quite the fiery one, as Esperanza, along with other women in the book, faces the problems of sexism-related depravity quite a few times. In ‘My Name’, pg. 10-11, Esperanza talked about how her great grandmother was kidnapped and forced to marry her grandfather, having her whole life shut down in the process. She mentioned that she ‘doesn’t want to inherit her place at the window’, because her great grandmother looked out of the window of their house sadly for the rest of her life.
The Arthurian Code: Chivalry “Chivalry is dead” is a very common phrase, however what does it actually mean? This famous saying refers back to the time of King Arthur in the Middle Ages. The word chivalry was used to describe what a perfect knight would be, and the code outlines the basic understanding of how a knight should act. The regulations assigned the ethics and morals that a knight had to attain, and the rules were held with great respect and honor.
