As a medium for conveying the past, films, specifically docu-dramas, are especially good at making history entertaining. In docu-dramas, this is done through creating conflict between the protagonist and other characters. The weakness of docu-dramas comes from creating conflict however, because in order to do so they sacrifice some historical accuracy. Now this is not to say that docu-dramas have no historical accuracy however, because that is not the case. When docu-dramas sacrifice historical accuracy in order to create conflict they do not sacrifice crucial historical information, they only sacrifice what is necessary in order to create the conflict.
Narrative is generally accepted as possessing two components: the story presented and the process of its telling. A story can be presented in two basic ways, as a linear narrative and as a non-linear narrative. Linear narratives follow a straight line and non-linear narratives usually start at in the middle or in the height of conflict. Violence can provoke an individual to be easily manipulated and become evil or uncivilized. For example, “Other problems include high levels of youth unemployment in the Muslim community, the availability of arms and a highly developed communications and transportation network in Belgium” (Burke 2). Because of the low youth unemployment, Belgium is a main target for Muslim terrorists. European countries due to violence against them and inequality bombed Belgium several times because of the corruption of Belgium. As well as in Lord of the Flies the boys killed an innocent because of that fear of the “beast” on the island (Golding 153).
In the earlier movies, they are portrayed as being violent savages. They killed and scalped American people. They were shown riding horses and being shot and killed. In films since the 1970’s, they are portrayed like normal people.
What genre does the film fall under? Matt Spicer’s first feature-length film, Ingrid Goes West (2017), falls under the genre of satire comedy. Oftentimes social media is put under scrutiny; however, Ingrid Goes West give us a different perspective. The film focuses on exploring human psyche when using social media, instead of the social media app itself.
Either war movie reconstructs the reality of the past and the real way people treated each other or it presents fictional reality. Today’s viewer very often confuses fiction with reality. In addition, moviemakers often combine historical reconstruction with their own fictional elements. If some war movies had been made in the times in which their storylines are located, the viewers would probably have not considered those movies racists. Nevertheless, today's viewer live in different, modern reality and is aware of any signs of bias.
