and N.A. meetings I attended this book contains many quotes from the Twelve Step model and makes many references to God and a Higher Power which may encourage many readers to use faith to change the codependency. It seems that the Twelve Steps are very important not only for those with a drug addiction, but those who struggle with some sort of compulsive action that affects their everyday lives. The author aims to let the readers acknowledge if they may have a codependency issue by giving a list of signs of codependency and tries to walk the reader through such situations by giving examples of

Conversely, Robert M. Stewart in “Meaningful Sex and Moral Respect” argues Elliston’s thesis that “promiscuity is a good thing for some people some of the time” (Elliston. 148) by claiming that they are only satisfying their lower-level pursuit of physical pleasure and are unbeknownst to the higher quality meaningful sex which they are capable of achieving. Stewart defines this lower-level pursuit of sexuality as “junk sex” and claims that pursuing it devalues the intellect and spirit of a person (Stewart. 143). Instead he argues that people should seek to engage in meaningful sex. According to Stewart, meaningful sex is related to higher, deeper, and more profound values such as love whereas “junk sex” can be an experience worth having but
An article by Knepper (2013) mentioned that the presence of addiction interaction disorder in a person may promote his or her severity in the addiction cycle. Addiction interaction disorder was introduced by Carnes (2011) which means a person may have multiple addictions at the same time and these addictions combine to interact, reinforce and become part of one another. Looking at individuals who struggle with primary addiction: sexual and secondary addiction: alcohol, the secondary addiction may ritualize the primary addiction which makes a person alternate between the addiction cycles and relapse deeper to their addictive behavior (Carnes, 2011). Four Stages of Addiction According to Butler (2009), below are the four stages of addiction that a person goes through from the first trial of the addictive behavior.
Sexual promiscuity is strongly encouraged and seen as a social norm, which is relatively similar to today’s society’s view of relationships (Huxley 32). Although the citizens
Have you ever been stressed out to the point where you just want to detach yourself from reality? Many reasons can contribute to this such as school, work, or your home life. All of those can contribute to a build up in stress levels and cause you to want to just get away any way you can. Drinking alcohol, taking drugs and/or self-harm are some of the many ways people will try to escape from reality. People should not use drugs or alcohol to try to escape from reality.
People have many short-term sexual relationships. People have sex at a young age, and have uncommitted relationships (Harris, Rice, Hilton, & Lalumiete, 2007). Men are interested in obtaining sexual partners with sexual aggression (Harris, Rice, Hilton, & Lalumiete, 2007). Men and women typically express their sexuality within long-term relationships, but did decline with age (Gray & Garcia, 2012446 - 452). Men and women have less sex as men and women get older.
When a person falls in love or gets addicted to drugs, their bodies behave in the same way. The warm and cozy feeling of being in love floods the brain with chemicals and hormones that produce feelings of pleasure, obsession and attachment. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet did not just fall in love with Romeo. Lovers also feel a rush of exhilaration when thinking about him or her; it is a form of “intoxication.” Both love and addiction engage the same regions of the brain, the “rewards system.”

The Constant Contemplation of Sharon Olds’ “Sex without Love” This poem dramatizes the conflict between the speakers opinions on sex, opposed to others. In this poem, Olds presents a speaker who is contemplating the mentalities and thought processes of people who are able to have sex without love, compared to themselves. Although no first person dialogue is presented in the poem, contrasting statements and implications of phrases used highlight how the speaker feels about the subject. The theme of the poem is largely one of personal contemplation and of human emotion.
Sharon Olds is a contemporary poet and is known for writing intensely personal, emotional and political poems. “Sex Without Love” is an erotic poem that captures the beauty of having meaningless sex without love or pleasure. Sharon Olds shows the reader that the sex described in the poem is a cold and lonely act by effectively using imagery and theme, but she also puts an emotional and personal feeling in the poem. In the beginning of the poem, the imagery created seemed like the poet was not criticizing having sex without love, but rather supporting it.
For the sixth week of the abstinence exercise, I was feeling much better about continuing to abstain from sugar since the previous week had been successful. Despite my birthday bringing much temptation to give into cakes and other desserts, I was able to stick to my healthy diet of not eating processed sugar. I was nervous to see my family on the weekend and spend time at home, because we will traditionally have birthday cakes and ice cream. I was able to share with my family members, who had forgotten all about my abstinence exercise, that I would not eat any sugar on my birthday. They were very surprised by this, and even tried to convince me otherwise, but I was able to assertively tell them I was sticking to my commitment.

Masturbation is fun when you do it right. Some people have rules for when they masturbate, I am one of those lucky people. I broke a very big rule by masturbating with out permission.
