An analysis of sex trafficking in the 21st century and the relationship it shares with prostitution

Introduction
Human trafficking has long been an issue facing societies the world over. Sex trafficking is just one of the many sides of human trafficking and is identified as the trade of slaves for means of sexual tasks, these tasks are often demeaning and cruel. In many ways it is similar to prostitution however prostitution is defined differently in many cases. The area between sex trafficking and prostitution is grey and blurred due to the nature of the prostitutes working in brothels. These chosen methods of research all pose a significant problem however, tracking down those involved in the sex slave trade. To overcome this I would use multiple methods of accumulating subjects for interviews. The most readily available source for potential interviewees would be support groups for individuals who have been victims of sex slavery. This poses an ethical dilemma however as these support4 groups are often closed to outsiders, meaning that interviewing one of these groups would be unethical and in bad taste. Another way I would garner interviewees would be through advertising. Through asking for individuals to come forward and be a part of either focus groups or individual interviews I could guarantee that all participants are willing to share their stories and experiences. This method would be the most effective due to the fact that because the interviewees would be attending of their own volition the risk of uneasiness or discomfort amongst the subjects would be minimised. The questions asked would be simple yet open enough to allow in-depth responses providing me with plenty of information to provide accurate statistics about sex trafficking. This method of gathering data in a quantitative fashion means that all facts are presumed to be correct as they are official documents. However in my research I would rather look at the effect on individuals compared to the stats on the masses as these mass statistics have frequently been assessed in the past and tend to reduce the impact of the data when compared to a tangible story as told by someone who has experiences in sex trafficking. Of course these stories are not as effective without the statistics to back them up so my research method would be to provide a combination of the
