Listen, reflect, then react. I have listened, and now as I reflect I can’t help but ask what the appropriate reaction would be (if any), and if any would these reactions be different for each individual article? Throughout Sexuality, Class, and Conflict in a Lesbian Workplace there is a reoccurring theme of public versus private and how these should be integrated into the workplace. This particular group of women began united in the search for social justice together, they wanted to escape the harsh reality of ‘traditional capitalism’ by creating an alternative workplace. In this case this means a place where they felt free to voice their personal life. As if they were being forced to keep their lives private, unlike their predominately ‘straight’ …show more content…
That being the practice of their decision making power. When the owners had, had enough of their employees making their own rules they began to implement a bit more structure. Unfortunately, this was unpopular with the rest of the workers at the shop. This signified a loss of freedom that was kind of like a slap in the face for these women that had worked so hard to achieve their untraditional workplace. The more the owners pushed for structure the more problems arose in the shop. This may have been due to the fact the neither of the owners had experience as a business owner. While that may have not been a very smart business move, especially in this case where the immense potential was ultimately lost, as humans we tend to live our lives this way. For example, as a child we are constantly badgered by our parents (if we’re lucky) and as a child we tend to constantly be in a state of annoyance. Our parents tell us to clean up, have manners, and try hard in school, and many of us obey until the infamous teenage rebellious stage in our lives. At this certain age we defy our parents making the same mistakes they have warned us about. Sooner or later though you realize your parents were right the whole time (if we’re lucky) and we thank them for the wise words they tried to drill into you out of love. In this case Amazon repair shop would translate to the children constantly badgered by the issues of capitalism. Eventually they reach their rebellious teenage stage where they defy capitalism and create their alternative business, and like every terrible teenage idea it seemed so fantastically full proof at the time. Of course, the idea wasn’t as full proof as everyone had hoped for, capitalism mom and dad knew that from the start so they just sat back and waited for the Amazon children to realize that capitalism was needed in some form or
