How would you feel if you walked down the street in an outfit you felt comfortable in, and you hear men making sexual advances like hollering, and giving you uncomfortable looks based on what you were wearing? Women all over have been subjected to sexism due to the type of clothing they wear. Young women everywhere have especially been open to these struggles. The types of clothing they wear to the way they look all have effects on these girls. Sexism has been shown by unfair standards of modesty, sexualization of woman, and biased treatment. Women should not be judged by the types of clothing they wear.

Biased treatment has made more people than not, uncomfortable. Men could walk around without a shirt with sweat dripping down their backs, and pants dragging to the floor catching dirt as they walk during the long, excruciating days. Not to mention, men have always had the upper hand on how they are dressed. They have few standards on what to wear, and how they are to wear it. Comparatively, women don’t have the option to show extra skin than they normally would, like men do without being afraid of the consequences it will have on them. Also, it is against the law for a woman to walk around shirtless. Not only is it illegal for woman, but it is also biased treatment that men are able to do this, and women can’t, but considering women having more assets, it is reasonable for us to be required to wear a shirt. An experience I’ve had with biased treatment was again at school. I was wearing ripped jeans that only showed the slightest shred of skin above the knee but was still dress coded. I was sent to the principal’s office, and they forced me to go home and change my clothes. While a man that was my same height had a rip in almost the same location that I did, didn’t even get a second look. This shows that women and men are treated very differently by what they are expected to wear, and how they wear
