I choose Shakespeare Sonnets as a topic for my research paper because his sonnets usually consist of themes of time, love, and beauty. He’s also highly considered for his love sonnets which bring an enduring attitude and perfect romance image in our minds that will forever exist. In this class we got the opportunity to read and discuss sonnets 55, 30, and 116. The subject in the three sonnets, show the idea of love, friendship, and marriage. By showing that friendship can end depression and bring happiness to one’s life, that love can and should be honored, and that marriage between two people is faithful and consistent. Shakespeare’s Sonnets 55, 30, and 116, in my point of view, represent the worth of relationships between human beings. The speaker starts off by remembering the past while stating “I summen up remembrance of things past”. He later mentions these are painful memories about friends’ death and he also seems to be unsecure about his own self-worth when stating “I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought, And with old woes new wail my dear time’s waste”. He then mentions someone special whom brings joy to him. Although he doesn’t make it clear if it’s a he or a she but refers to that person as a “dear friend”. The poet finishes up the sonnet by saying in other words, a true friend can end depression when he states “But if the while I think on thee, dear friend, all losses are restor’d and sorrows end”. Even though it’s unclear if it’s a male or female who’s he talking about, he considers that person a friend while expressing his thoughts on how friendship can end
