William Shakespeare did a lot of plays back in the early 1500’s. Did the most famous author in English literature actually write his own plays? There are theories that William Shakespeare did not write his own plays. In fact, the five candidates that may have written Shakespeare plays are Francis Bacon, Christopher Marlowe, Edward DeVere, William Stanley, and Sir Henry Neville. People think Francis Bacon wrote it himself because he was born three months before William Shakespeare was born but experts say that William Shakespeare did not have an education.

Edward DeVere writes the plays and he attributes it to ‘William Shakespeare.’ Edward DeVere possessed the classic learning and knowledge of the law, music, Italian culture and sports that feature so prominently in ‘William Shakespeare’ play. Therefore, under his authorship the plays become more political satires of court life and power critiques are the government, hence his anonymity. The poetry that survived under his own name as well as his letters both collaborate the case for his authorship.
