The Story of Perseus started out with a king named Acrisius, who ruled the land of Argos. Once an oracle told Acrisius that he would be killed by the offspring of his daughter, Danae. In a reaction to this life-threatening news, Acrisius locked his daughter in a room in his palace, so she could never bear child. Zeus was engrossed by Danae’s beauty and instantly fell in love with her. To meet Danae, Zeus changes his form into what is called “a shower of gold” which seeped into her room. Soon a messenger went to King Acrisius, stating that a son (Perseus) has been born from his daughter, Danae.
To get rid of his son, Acrisius, not wanting to kill his offspring, got a large wooden chest and put both Danae and the baby into it. He set out the wooden chest to sea, and soon the chest came to stop at an island called Seriphus. At the island there was a man named Diktys, who took both of them to his house. He raised Perseus as his son and soon Perseus grew up. Perseus was a man built like a god. He was much larger and more athletic than the average person on the island. Diktys had a brother, Polydectes who was the king of Seriphus. He saw Danae’s beauty and asked her to marry him. She refused because she was already wedded to Zeus. When

He had almost gave up when he finally found the island coming up over the horizon. When he got to the island, he dropped off on a cliff, where he looked down and saw Medusa and her two sisters sleeping. Perseus then put on the invisibility cap and stealthily came down to where they were. He used the shield to look at Medusa without turning to stone and when he got to her, he used the scythe to cut off her head. Right when he did this, Pegasus, a winged horse came out of Medusa.
