Perseus is one of the first and greatest Greek heroes, but how? What is a Greek hero? A Greek hero is someone who possesses traits such as bravery, strength, and cleverness, but could also possess some traits such as arrogance and conceit. Greek heroes are set out on an adventure with the determination of succeeding while running into some conflict along the way. There is a point along the heroes adventure after the major set back where the hero is sort of changed in a way.

When Perseus was only just a baby Dictys offered for him and his mother, Danae to go live with him which she gladly accepted, but as soon as Dictys brother, Polydectes found out about her he also offered for them to go and live with him if she would marry him; she turned down the offer. In addition, Polydectes grew a great hatred for the both and did not do much about it until Perseus was a young man where he thought he could finally get rid of Perseus by taunting him and telling him he was a coward when in reality he was the exact opposite. Perseus came across Andromeda who was chained to a rock because her mother Cassiopeia, was jealous of her beauty and decided to punish her by chaining her to a rock and leaving her to be devoured by a sea monster. "'Fear not, noble maiden. Perseus will gladly help to free you from these chains which some monster has forced upon tender wrists. But who are you, and why are you here?" "I am Andromeda," she replied. "Unhappy that I am! My mother, Cassiopeia, boasted of my beauty, and to punish her, Thetis sent dreadful floods, which laid waste our fields. I am chained thus to appease the sea-gods, and they will send a sea-monster to devour me.'"
