For many year people have used outdated protective gear for sports, for as long as anyone can remember and as far back as any book has gone, there has been protective equipment. Many years ago in Ancient Egypt, the Pharaoh of Egypt would wear protective gear so nobody could assassinate him. Now, in almost every sport professional and youth athletes are wearing protective equipment. There are classes in colleges and universities the teach sports safety and what protective gear should be worn, and when it should be worn. Many youth sports leagues can not afford the top gear, so kids are using worn out gear which increases the chance of injuries which could even be lifelong. Therefore, all athletes should have more protection in sports.
Due to many severe head injuries students are getting concussions. The Steelers an NFL football team is working on making new padding that could decrease concussions. “Nobody would or should say this is going to eliminate for this or any other sport” said Steeler neurosurgeon Maroon. We have to take the risk and get the better gear for children and even adults. It is not fair the kids have to live the rest of their lives with lifelong injuries because the league there playing in couldn’t afford to protect the kids. Protective gear has been around since ancient Egypt. Why should we stop wearing it now? All this evidence proves that youth and Professional athletes should be wearing the top protective gear. People use sports as a way to escape school, or escape a hard time at home, or whatever the case might be. Maybe, they just want to play to have fun. However, if kids are going to be getting hurt almost every time you play, then is it really worth it. Overall, all Athletes should have more protective
