Wouldn’t it be nice to earn millions of dollars to play a sport for fun? Being a professional athlete is something almost everybody has dreamed about and only a modest percentage have achieved. Sports are part of everyday life for most people in the country and millions of people idolize the players. Professional athletes are making over and above what they deserve. this money should be given to doctors and the armed forces. People’s salaries should be based on the job’s economic importance and value to society not based on their talent and ability to play a sport. Teachers, doctors, and the armed forces are all examples of professions that provide valuable services to society. The ones that become professional athletes have worked from a young age and put in thousands of hours practicing which goes along with the old saying “Time Is Money”. These players sacrifice their bodies and spend hours in rehab or taking pain medication because of it. That kind of strenuous activity all the time puts strain on your body and athletes pay for that in the future. Athletes also lose most of their privacy due to the media. Athletes have to do countless numbers of interviews to keep the people happy. If an athlete screws up, it goes all over the media and now this player is scrutinized over a situation that many of others have done. The biggest reasons athletes get paid too much is the people that watch the sports. People go to games and pay the high prices for tickets or merchandise to show off their true colors.
