A recent statistic from “War Child” states that there are 250,000 child soldiers in the world that are being recruited by the governments. For many years now, a question has been raised between if child soldiers should be granted amnesty or not. I strongly believe that child soldiers should be granted amnesty for the crimes they committed during war. I believe that not only are the civilians of the country victims of the war, but as well as child soldiers. I believe this for a few, main reasons. Child soldiers do not volunteer to fight, they are either abducted out of their homes or influenced to find a safe place to live where they will be fed because they are alone, starving, and homeless. Many of the articles we read state that kids are taken from their homes or doing things they enjoy. According to “Armed and Underage” “It is well-know that Somalia's radical Islamist insurgents are plucking children off soccer fields and turning them into fighters, just as rebel groups in a number of African countries and elsewhere in the world do.” This piece of evidence states that children are not volunteering to fight in the war, rather they are forced to. Also, according to “TIME Hope for Uganda’s Child Soldiers?” “Just 14 when he was abducted near his northern Ugandan house by the Lord’s Resistance Army...” This is another article that states the same as the last, that children are not volunteering to fight in the war, they are forced to. When children are forced into fighting their human rights of free will are revoked. The human right of free will means that you are allowed to make decisions for yourself. When these children are forced into fighting they are not making decisions for themselves, other people
