Imagine this: You’re at work and your boss announces that you and your colleagues will not be getting paid anymore. But instead, all the money would go to your boss and their higher-ups. How would you feel? Does that sound fair? Luckily this usually doesn’t happen in real life, but it does in college sports. Some think College Athletes should be paid, but others believe they shouldn’t. However, research shows that College athletes should be paid. If so the money could help students pay for their necessities, make rules fairer, and help students become more motivated.

College athletes have worked hard to be on their universities’ sports teams. But with money involved most of the athletes would work extra hard. For instance the article, “3 Reasons Why College Athletes Should Be Paid,” states, “When you pay student-athletes a share of what they contribute to the college sports programs, they’ll want to work harder and do better. Like you would work harder at a job you get paid for, student-athletes will work harder during practices and games.” This would be a “win-win,” situation for all universities because most likely, by working harder, college athletes would generate more money for the universities, along with more money for themselves.
