Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn should tell the sheriff what happened. They should tell the sheriff what happened because if they do tell the other people could go to jail, the other people could get caught so they couldn't do it again, and they won't get in trouble if they tell. Some people say they shouldn't tell so the bad guys don't find them or hurt them. Even though those things could happen they should still tell because the police could keep them safe, but also capture the bad guys. If they did tell, Injun Joe could go to jail. There are many reasons of why they should tell but the this one is one of the main ones because they will be safe and everyone else will be safe of not getting murdered. Also, Muck Potter will get out of jail and the real one that stabbed Dr. Robinson which is Injun Joe, will go to jail. Everyone in the community, well most everyone will be safe from the Injun Joe who will got to jail or even worse consequences because he lied and murdered someone. Another reason why they should tell the sheriff what really happened is because they might get caught for knowing what happened and not telling, because there is an innocent man in jail when he really shouldn't be. If they tell now they won't get in trouble because they were witnesses and there's nothing wrong with being a witness because it can help the case and they can figure out who's lying, and who needs to be the one in jail. Also, the police might not be the only thing they will be in trouble with, they might also be in trouble with Injun Joe if he finds out. Them telling and getting in trouble is a way better decision than keeping it to themselves and letting the police find out because if they don't tell and the police find out they know what really happened they are going to wish they would have told
