Religion can sometimes take away time from work, according to the German Sociologist Max Weber, he thought religion was getting in the way of work and it should be an “out-of-work thing”. In the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Compliance Manual on Religious Discrimination, it clearly states that “No matter what religion, work should not affect one’s belief”. It’ll be very offensive to hear that an employer has dismissed one of their employees, strictly because in what they believe in. Religion should not affect an individual or company, mainly because everyone is familiar with it. People have no right to judge someone based on what they believe in. God gave us a mind to accept things that make sense to us in our own head, things that are up to us to share with someone else or not. In reality, numerous issues arise from the discussion of religion. People discuss or sometimes even argue over the topic, but neither should matter. Work is a place where all negativity should be left at home. If you really want to be the best at what you do, being involved in arguments like that should be something you don’t want to be part of. You never know who you’re hurting or offending with your words. If even the government comes into play when it comes to workplace issues, it should matter to an employee, employer and a customer. There might be different laws in different countries, but you do not lose the sense of respect for other people.
