To begin with, students shouldn’t wear uniforms because it violates a student’s right for freedom. For example, quoting, “https://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/school-uniforms/” by Marian Wilde, “School uniforms violate a student’s right to freedom of expression...makes a target for bullies from other schools, are difficult to enforce in public schools, and are a financial burden for poor families.” This means that some families aren’t able to afford the school uniforms. Which, leads to many students getting bullied for not having uniforms like their
This is one of those debates that happens over and over again. My judgement on school uniforms is a yes and a no. It would stop bullying over clothing but it basically tells the kids that they can’t express themselves at school. School uniforms would stop distractions but the children would feel like they can’t show their differences in clothing like some kids like colorful stuff and some have traditional clothing and some like certain things that they like to dress in. School uniforms are not a bad idea but the flaw is how the uniforms affect the students minds.
According to many websites stating about adulthood and the affect that brings it into the topic of school uniforms such as "Procon.org" which states " School uniforms may delay the transition into adulthood". Which some people would argue on, if you still taking orders from someone when your in the process of growing up, then you wouldn 't have a fair chance being independent in the adulthood. People would also argue on uniforms doesn 't have anything to do with students work and grades, etc. Some people has more weakness then others because they are busy being stuck under someone 's wing. There are many requirements that leads to having to wear a uniform.
And it does not raise test scores which leads me to my next reason why we should not wear uniforms. My second reason is that is does not stop bullying kids get bullied over what they are clothes people think that it will help but it wont. Everyone will be wearing the same clothes but if we wear uniforms kids from other schools would bully them from there. It does not help test scores and does not help grades.
And So form kids wearing uniform to having free dress uniform should not be required for lack of communication. One reason students from all ages should not wear uniform is lack of expression. greatschools.org by Marian Wilde said... “when a student was sent to detention for wearing socks adorned with the image of winnie the pooh’s friend tigger, the girls family sued the school district for violated her freedom of speech.” This means that kids don 't have a say when they go to school because they have school uniform.
School uniforms pro or con, this controversial subject has been going on for a while arguing it takes away students' self of expression or whether it helps establish a better learning environment. Which one truly is the best option for the future of our students and which one can truly maximize their potential for a better learning environment as well as the safety for them when they go to school, these thoughts are key points in when discussing the argument over school uniforms Starting with the pro side, school uniforms themselves have many upsides to them such as eliminating visible economical differences, which can be very helpful to diminishing bullying that is caused by a person's social/economic status, another upside would include the prevention of gangs forming because of how school uniforms would eradicate gangs being able to represent themselves via clothing. Eradicating gang association amongst the school grounds can definitely lead to a safer and better learning environment for the students knowing that they'll be safe when coming to school.
School Uniforms: It is Not the End of the World To wear uniforms or to not wear uniforms? The hot topic on whether public school systems should carry out the idea of school uniforms has been around for a while. There are people who agree with the decision to implement the idea, and there are people who believe the idea should not be implemented. School uniforms should be placed into effect in public schools, because it will save parents cash, diminish bullying, and brings a sense of safeness to the school’s environment.
Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. Many schools view uniforms as a solution to several problems, but many schools view uniforms as a lack of self expression. School uniforms should continue, even though children may not get to express themselves, because they prohibit violence, provide cheaper lifestyles, and promote better education.
In the essay, “Schoolwear Association Research Reveals Uniforms Can Be a Powerful Tool,” the printwear and promotion point to a study done by the Schoolwear Association disagrees and points out that having school uniforms will lower bullying caused by where they are from and economic class. They that,”83% of teachers thought "a good school uniform... could prevent bullying based on appearance or economic background. "(Schoolwear Association ). What this means is having school uniforms can lower bullying. While there is some truth to this argument, it is wrong because only teachers think of this and not parents who are the ones who have to pay for uniforms.
Imagine you are sitting in a classroom filled with polite and poised children dressed all the same in their school uniforms. You feel peaceful and chaos free. School uniforms are required in a lot of public schools throughout all of america, but some aren't. This issue is affecting plenty of citizens throughout the united states. School uniforms should be required in all public schools across the united states because, school uniforms reduce the amount of distraction in the classroom, school uniforms create a positive, no violence culture and climate on campus, and lastly school uniforms end the competition between the rich and poor, weather it being about who has the nicest or most new up to date clothes.
In conclusion, school uniforms are a great thing to have in schools. Even though there is that argument on whether school uniforms will violate the right of self-expression to students it will continue either way. At the end of the day students should see that there are more positive effects with uniforms rather than negative ones. It should be taking in consideration that the clothes a student wears will not determine the ability of learning, but why not pick school uniforms that can help stop current school
This shows uniforms can remove distractions from what students wear. School uniforms create a level playing field among students, reducing peer pressure and bullying. When all students are dressed alike, competition between students over clothing choices and the teasing of those who are dressed in less expensive or less fashionable outfits can be eliminated. Research by the Schoolwear Association found that 83% of teachers
In the article of Dr. Alan Hilfer from 2009, “Disadvantages of a School Uniform Policy” stated that “We need free thinking children of to become thinkers of tomorrow, not droned who will continue making the mistakes of previous generations”(Hilfer, 2009). Feelings on school uniforms seem to differ as much as the reasons for having them, hate it, or love it. Recent studies done in the University of Alabama states that: “Student Uniform use was not significantly correlated with any of the school commitment variables. In addition, students wearing uniforms did not appear to have any significantly different academic performance” (Brunsma & Rockquemore, 1998). The problem whether schools should still be continuously implemented is a highly debatable topic.
School uniforms give students a sense of unity because they feel like they can fit in without fear of being too different. Making a dress uniform mandatory will decrease sexual harassment, create more interesting humans and make schools safer. A school uniform would make schools safer. The idea of wearing uniforms to schools was originally introduced to reduce violence in schools in 1996 by the Department of Education (Underwood, 1).
“Uniforms sends a message and remind students that they are in school. One element of the message that when students are going to school that is their place of work” a quote taken from Joe Palumbo, the Co-Principal of Newacomb Academy. School uniforms create an identity for a school because without them there would be more difficulty in students to maintain school rules, and school uniforms teach students to dress properly and take pride in their appearance. One purpose of a school uniform is for identification and people will be able to distinguish which school students go to based on type of clothing they wear. I strongly believe that school uniforms should not be banned from schools because they are cost-efficient, promote equality among
