Straight Outta Compton is one of the most violent songs produced. The song Straight Outta Compton by the N.W.A. was released and not long after was censored. The song starts by saying “ you are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge”, and by hearing that you would think the song was about street knowledge but the song ends up being very violent. It was censored because it has ostentatious lyrics, is profane and strident, and unrelentingly depicts violent defense. Listeners of Straight Outta Compton say the song shouldn’t be censored because it introduced gangster rap to the world. This point is valid because the song was one of the first songs in the Gangster rap genre but there isn't strong reasoning as to why it shouldn’t be censored. Listeners also say the song is informative because it explains the ups and downs of the “gangsta” life on the streets of South-Central Los Angeles. In an article it states “The song details the ups and downs of the gangsta life on the streets of south-central Los Angeles” and it does, but the song is still very violent. Another reason some say the song shouldn’t be censored is that Critics accused the group of glorifying the gangsta lifestyle, but Ice Cube insisted they are merely documentarians. In the article, that quote was stated meaning Ice Cube doesn’t think they’re glorifying the lifestyle but merely informing people of what happens in South Central Los Angeles. All of these reasonings are true because the song did introduce the world to gangster rap and it does explain the lifestyle in Compton. Even though Ice Cube, one of the artists of the song, doesn’t think it glorifies the gangster lifestyle, it is still a very violent song. If the song wasn’t censored, kids could easily find the song and listen to all the ostentatious lyrics, and non-kid-friendly content.
