The article entry "No, Teachers Should Not Carry Guns” is based off a New York school principles thoughts about educators carrying guns in their rooms or on them selves while at school. This article i most definitely eye catching because any person who stays up to date on news knows the amount of school shootings we have had in the past and we are still trying to find a resolution to this issue that keeps arising more around the country. By using 3 words “no”, “teachers”, and “guns” . Those words alone grab the readers attention insanely quick, considering you most definitely do not put teachers and guns together. The curiosity arises, and eyes start reading.
If somone in all these cases of college shooting or any school shooting if one person had a gun and stopped the guy then there would be less people dead and less injured. Guns in school a good idea what about having guns in military recruiting
Teachers could feel more comfortable in their classrooms if they knew they could protect themselves and their students from violent threats. Schools being a gun free zone are a target for violent
One day, one child, one gun, one school. Now, as saddening as it is to admit, we live in a world where school shootings are a part of everyday life, and there is nothing being done to stop them. As most can recognize, most of the media is more focus on what the President is going to say after the shootings happen, rather than focusing on what we as a nation are going to do to stop these tragic events. There have been a few ideas when it comes to solving this issue, and truthfully, most of these ideas will fall flat on their faces; meanwhile, arming teachers seems to be a possible solution. Arming teachers will deter shooters, secure students fears from outside threats, and in the worst case scenario can stop a school shooter before they can commit mass murder.
There is a possibility that a kid who is planning a shooting could just be in a classroom and find out were his/her teacher keeps the weapon, and they wouldn 't even have to sneak a gun in. That’s a downside but what if we made gun safes that only opened with a teachers ID or own password making it almost impossible for a student to open it. Conclusion By arming teachers there are alot more positives than negatives, Yes bad things can happen with a deadly weapon in a classroom but people will continue to do these horrific crimes knowing there is hardly anything that’s going to stop them.
Equipping teachers with guns, who are little more than civilians, is absurd. This would not help prevent the type of deadly mass shooting we 've been seeing lately. All that would do is increase the possibility of innocent people getting caught in the crossfire. Instead of training for how to use guns teachers should be taught self defense and how to use items around them as weapons. It would also help if every teacher learned self defense and not just a
Teachers Carrying Guns By:Mark Roessner So far there have been shootings across the US in schools. To address the problem, President Trump has come out with a few ideas and suggestions that will hopefully preserve children safety at schools. Those ideas are not without their critics, pros and cons. Trump listened to a couple victims and parents of victims tell their mournful story and came out with a suggestion.
Over the past few weeks, arming teachers has been a controversial topic throughout the country. School shootings have taken the lives of many over the past few years, yet they are becoming more and more frequent. In today’s society children shouldn’t have to go to school worried if they are going to be safe that day. If teachers are armed it will add that extra bit of protection to the children. A big question is if arming teachers is even going to matter if an active shooter happens to be in that school.
If we give teachers gun the number of school shootings and the amount of young children dying will go down. The children that lost friends to school shooting or are afraid of one happening will feel safer. A child is not supposed to worry about their safety at school. Only the teachers that pass a series of test will get a gun. That is why I believe teachers should be able to carry concealed weapons and make the school and students
Concealed weapons are a type of protection that many people have argued about for various reasons. Some people believe that carrying a concealed weapon should be a right that everyone should have, while others believe that it is unsafe for themselves or others. Concealed weapons are weapons, especially handguns, which are kept hidden on one's person, or under one's control (“USLegal, Inc”). When people discuss concealed weapons, they usually talk about handguns; however, any device or instrument that can cause harm or death to another individual is considered a weapon. This could include knives, tools, and items that could be turned into a weapon.
Also, Teachers should carry handguns because it is their right. Steve Siebold an expert in the field of critical and mental toughness training reported to Every Teacher in America Should Have a Gun that, “But until that happens, critical thinking suggests that we all exercise our second amendment rights, arm our teachers and school officials to ensure the safety of our children, voice our support and keep a close eye on anti-gun crusaders who want to make our decisions for us”(Siebold). It is our right in the second amendment that we can have a weapon and we need to use that
Silence Walking out into my relative's living room, the hushed laughter and conversation died away as my face came into view. Margie smiled, laying out my breakfast choices before retreating to the study, while Paul sat with his back towards me reading the newspaper. All that was heard was the clinking of my spoon and the occasional rustle of the newspaper, the tension quickly becoming so great that the walls might crack and the windows threatened to shatter. As the others woke from their sleep, the house became louder, filling with with the chaos and noise that always seems to follow my family. Still, my uncle sat, silent, preoccupied by today's biggest story.
But, perhaps arming teachers isn’t the best, safest or only route to a better future and an end to the problem. Having higher budgets for schools to get security, metal detectors and armed policemen and women would do a whole lot more than arming teachers. What is more sacred than the lives of the future? What could be more precious than a child who has yet to see their latter years? Time is already spinning and wasting out.
We negate the resolution that teachers should be armed due to the waste of money, time, and safety. We would like to present the following definitions: Armed is defined by merriam-webster to be furnished with weapons Weapon is defined by merriam-webster to be something used to injure, defeat, or destroy. We believe this resolution is asking us to advocate to negate and our opponents to advocate to affirm.
Students today live their day-to-day lives in constant fear of what seems inevitable. The United States has one of the highests rates of school shootings in the world. Society has become so desensitized to these shootings that they are no longer shocked to hear about another school falling victim to it. Even when students take a stand against gun violence, the only solution offered to them is a proposition to arm teachers. However, bringing more guns into a school will only further deteriorate the situation.
