Bill C-24 introduces reforms that undermine the fundamental rights of many Canadians and presents more difficult requirements for applicants. Under the former Act, citizenship applicants only needed to reside in Canada for three out of four years which is a minimum of 1,095 days. The current Act introduces a more lengthy residency requirement by requiring applicants to be physically present in Canada for four out of six years, and applicants must also provide an “intent to reside” statement (Citizenship and Immigration Canada, 2014, February 6). The former Act barred applicants who had domestic criminal charges and convictions. The current Act expands the bar to applicants with foreign criminal charges and convictions (Citizenship and Immigration Canada, 2014, February 6).
According to the article “Why Canada should have free university tuition, and how it could” by Yelland (2015), stats that university education should be free in Canada for everyone. The author believes that Canada has one of the most expensive tuition fees in the world and the government needs to make it free. She quotes Mcdonald that says the number of people who are going to the university is increasing so it has to be free for everyone. Because university is becoming just like high school. She compares Canada to some countries that provide free education such as Germany and Sri Lanka.
Home economics classes, personal finance education, and vocational training are examples of this emphasis. 2) Reading and Writing: Just as the ancient Romans valued reading and writing skills, literacy is a fundamental aspect of modern education in Canada. Differences: 1) Inclusivity: Unlike the Roman education system, modern Canadian education aims to be inclusive and accessible to all genders, ethnicities, and social backgrounds. 2) Comprehensive Curriculum: Canadian education encompasses a wide range of subjects beyond household management, such as science, history, arts, and physical education. 3) Equal Opportunities: In Canada, both boys and girls have equal opportunities to pursue education and careers in any field they choose.
If all Canadians benefit economically, why shouldn’t they. Canada can even sell resources to other countries, there is no reason that they could not give to its own people, especially to people who took care of it for hundreds of years. If only they were legally give their rights, they would not have to suffer what they
In the article “Newcomers Vote with Their Feet“ by Rudyard Griffiths, there is a lot of Canadians who have a negative attitude toward the newcomers, and the author suggested to resolve the Canadian immigration system problem. Canadians believe that they are able to choose the skilled immigrants just because they are one of the developed countries, and no one can resist Canada. Nevertheless, they are wrong beliefs. In addition, while Canada is the second destination of the new immigrants, 95 percent of the citizens who obtained the Canadian citizenship are unskilled workers. Furthermore, 20 percent of the spending of the federal goes to the language trainers.
Instead of focusing on being an exclusive institute, these schools should accept students based on merit, like Canadian
I came to Canada a year ago. As a new emigrant I faced many challenges, that has changed my life. When I arrived with my family in Canada, my parents had a small deposit that just supported us, as a family, for a few months. After that, my parents could not find job due to lack of English proficiency. Canada’s government help us with a small amount of money that helped us to live.
This includes Canada’s aging population and declining birth rates as well as an increase to acquire more skilled people to help grow the economy. The immigration laws of Canada are intended to be open-minded and friendly to immigrants from all over the world. Canada's dedication to a strong and varied immigration system is likely to persist, even though the precise immigration source nations may shift over time. Some may argue that the large immigrant population has begun to dilute Canadian national identity and ‘crumble’ the sense of shared values and culture. On the other hand, many believe it has induced a diverse and very inclusive society.
This is because they were the original people of Canada and so they deserve to retain their cultural identity and not be assimilated. They also have a right to be educated in their language of choice which will help preserve their culture. Aboriginal people also have unique
The only way a state college should be free to attend is through a scholarship. College is more of a privilege, therefore it should not be free nor easy to attend. College can tell the difference between slackers and hard workers. The common belief on the subject is that state colleges should not be free to attend.
Universities are all non-profit organizations that only exists to provide educations for people who wish to do so. Even if a person does not have all of the funds to pay for post secondary education, they have different opportunities to pursue one because there care organizations that offer money for students that cannot afford it. An example of an organization that does this is, OSAP which stands for “Ontario Student Assistance Program” that offers loans, grants and other financial aids to help those who cannot afford post secondary education. Therefore I believe that the institution of education in Canada is only in operation to help all members of society, to create a more education nation and thus a higher, education
The improvement of the rights of the Canadian Immigrants Canada, as one of the biggest immigration countries, welcomes people from all over the the world and forms a representative multicultural atmosphere in today’s society. Over these few decays, the country has always been consummating the laws to provide immigrants equal rights and freedoms, and better treatments they could receive. However, Canadian immigration laws were not unprejudiced and it eventually caused a “legal discrimination” before 1976. The legal rights of the immigrant groups have improved significantly because of the demands of developing the country, the influences of the wars, and the globalization of the world. Since 1880s, more immigrants and foreigners came to Canada because of the railway construction project.
Immigration has been and will continue to happen all around the world. There are so many reasons for people who come from different countries and ethnicities to move from country to country. The reasons why these people immigrate is either they are simply forced to, due to violence and hostility or that they are in search of a better life for them, and or their family etc. Canada being rated number one in quality of life has been a goal for people wanting to immigrate. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ( IRPA) was established by the Canadian government in the year 2002.
It worked in the past, why not now? The wide spread majority of all Syrian Refugees should be brought to Canada from places such as Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. This will relieve stress and financial stability for these countries. An initial outreach to businesses are vital; the impermanent foreign worker program for people that don’t have a lot of skill should be sternly condensed, this will release jobs for refugees that will be
Yes, I know education is important and no one can take that from you but when I look at the bigger picture I just see a bunch of students who are alike and have one thing in common and that is to get an education. As domestic students you have your reasonings behind as to why other students from a foreign country is trying to compete with you. Canada is well-diverse, but I know that it should be a boundary that is made when it comes to education cost because one your parents pay other expenses that as international we
